Not all real estate licensees are REALTORS®.
Become an Illinois REALTOR® and you’ll receive advocacy for the real estate profession, advanced educational opportunities, training and networking that are not available to other licensees.
The Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS® is universally recognized as the measure of professionalism in real estate. Adherence to the Code is the first great bond between REALTORS® throughout the country, ensuring high standards of professional conduct. As a real estate licensee, you can elect to join the local, state and National Association of REALTORS®. Upon membership you’ll earn the opportunity to call yourself a REALTOR® and use the trademark REALTOR® “R” logo, which the public recognizes as the standard for ethics and professionalism in real estate.
When you join Central Illinois Board of REALTORS® you pay dues and become a member of Illinois REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. It is within this three-way membership that you’ll receive opportunities for training, networking, publications and the most current legal updates, standardized forms, and access to the REALTOR® association staff and resources.
Ethics training
Members of the National Association of REALTORS® (and Illinois REALTORS®) must successfully complete a 2.5-hour course in ethics, an element of NAR’s Code of Ethics. The policy requires that REALTORS® take ethics training within given four-year cycles and continue to update their education in successive four-year periods thereafter.
